
Leeds New Year Celebrations
New Year celebrations kick-off early as a carnival style atmosphere comes to the city centre with a variety of street entertainment and activities along Briggate and The Headrow between 2pm to 5.30pm.
So whether you are out shopping, finishing work or just out with family and friends, make sure you join in with a fun packed afternoon and early evening schedule of live entertainment hosted by 96.3 Radio Aire's Dan Moylan featuring:
• A special outdoor theatrical performance of the well loved children's story 'The Gingerbread Man' from 2pm
• A vibrant mix of colourful costumes and live rock and pop music by 'The Jumping Jack Frosts' stilt walking band
• Classic cabaret, juggling and all-action slapstick comedy by the Fairly Famous Family with their popular touring festive family shows; 'A Cheesy Rider' and 'Just in Case'
• A miraculous street invasion by a flock of endangered 'Giant Butterflies'
• Selection of children's fairground rides
• A sensational musical parade by NWSI's 'The Ant Orkedzra' - a specially commissioned 10 piece brass and percussion marching band on stilts leading into a...
• Fantastic Firework Finale illuminating the skies across the city at 5.30pm<
For the best viewing area for the fireworks display, please make your way to The Headrow between Albion Street and Briggate.
